1.      Introductions

2.      Snowrider updates – Katie B.

Sustainable slopes day is the 19th of February. Katie will get the booth together, but she needs help running the booth as she will not be able to be there for the event.  If you are interested and able to help out please contact Katie at kbreene@juno.com.

3.      Pint night – Katie G.

It is looking good. The OLCC should be able to give us an answer by the end of the week regarding the go ahead. Once the OLCC says yes, Widmer brewing will print up 244 pint glasses for us with our logo, and we will sell the glasses to the bar and then they sell them for us. It will take 2 ˝ months to get the glasses made. And then we will need to pitch to bars for our event.

We will post the logo options on the website and everyone can then vote on what logo to use.

4.      SOLV Beach clean up – Tyler

We will meet at the Seaside Cove Saturday March 19th, 2005 to participate in the SOLV beach clean up. We need help announcing this event to the Surfrider and coastal community. SOLV usually has a very nice poster made up that we could get out into the coastal surf shop community. If you would like to help us out by taking information from the SOLV website and making a flier or helping to distribute on foot or via email it would be great. Contact Tyler at reidtyler@hotmail.com.

5.      PDX BWTF Testing meeting – Markus/Jamie

A group of volunteers will meet in the next week or two to learn about the testing program, locations, and how to test. If you are interested in participating please contact Markus at mmead@surfrider.org.

6.      PNW Regional Conference Planning

This is a conference to learn what has worked and has not worked in the Pacific Northwest, to network, to brainstorm, and to help improve all of our activities here in Portland. We have $2800 to spend on this event, or on events throughout the year. We were thinking of having the event in Coos Bay, but due to the combined event with WA and OR it will more likely be in Northern or Central Oregon. This event will most likely be in the Fall - October.  We have options: yurts, hotels, houses, conference rooms, etc. Dave will look into this, if you have ideas or would like to help research, please contact Dave at DAVIDSPENCER99@msn.com

7.      Letters Commission Action Alert

Thursday, Jan 27 the State Parks Commission voted to retain ownership of lands near Winchester Bay at the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park. They were considering selling the land to Douglas County. Please send an email or mail to the following address to thank them. Below is a short letter by Surfrider you can use as a template.

8.      Opens

·        The Christian Surfers of Oregon is hosting the surf movie: Noah’s Arc  which will have a FREE showing at the Cinema 21 Theater on Monday February 21st, 2005 at 5, 7, and 9pm. Markus and Haley will bring booth information, banner, stickers etc if anyone is interested in arriving early and working at the booth.

·         Katie G: How about if we stencil storm drains in the neighborhood with “drains to the ocean.” John:  The City of Portland has the stencils already, perhaps we can get one of those. Markus: What a fantastic idea, it is a perfect activity for our chapter, especially one for a warm Summer evening.

·        Water pollution surfboard has been made. Thank you to Patagonia for their support in having it made. It is a large 8foot board that will stand in the Newport Aquarium.

·        We will have a Road clean up on our adopted stretch of 101 this April. Please think about what dates may work well for you and come to our next meeting with preferred dates or contact Dave at DAVIDSPENCER99@msn.com
