For the next four Thursdays, Surfrider Foundation is thirsty for ocean, wave, beach, surf and environmental shots for a chance to win a Firewire surfboard.

BLUE WATER TASK FORCE REPORT REVEALS TRENDS IN COASTAL WATER QUALITY

To help make sure your day at the beach does not make you sick, the Surfrider Foundation and Emergen-C Blue are releasing the Second Annual Blue Water Task Force Annual Report to share water quality results from the Foundation’s volunteer-run water testing labs.

The world’s largest gathering dedicated to global wave protection with representatives from 19 organizations and ten different countries came together for the 3rd Global Wave Conference in Rosarito, Mexico. The three-day conference concluded with the signing of a conference statement on wave protection and coastal preservation that marked the unity of the world’s surf protection organizations.

To raise awareness about our world’s water issues and the small changes individuals can do to help, Surfrider Foundation is proud to bring back the “3 Second Movie Contest” presented by Teva and Finlandia Vodka. Between now and March 15th, the Surfrider Foundation is challenging participants to capture the essence of water in just three seconds. The top movie selections will be compiled into a short set to release on March 22nd – World Water Day.

SAN MATEO COUNTY RULES MARTIN’S BEACH IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Today, Judge Davis granted the County of San Mateo District Attorney’s motion to dismiss the trespassing charges filed against five surfers accessing Martin’s Beach.

OREGON TERRITORIAL SEA PLAN APPROVED

After nearly five years of data collection, stakeholder engagement and public process that included the Surfrider Foundation and its Oregon Chapter Network, the State of Oregon approved a Territorial Sea Plan to protect special recreational and ecological places, including key surf spots, while creating opportunities for renewable ocean energy development.

COASTAL COMMISSION DENIES PG&E SEISMIC TESTING PERMIT

After eight hours of testimony that included comments from Surfrider Foundation, activists and ocean lovers alike, the California Coastal Commission denied Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) the necessary permit to conduct seismic testing off the Central California Coast. The Commission unanimously found the project inconsistent with the Coastal Act.
