SURFRIDER FOUNDATION SPECIAL WORLD WATER MEMBERSHIP TO INCLUDE TEVA FUSE-ION SHOES

March 12 2012

The Surfrider Foundation announced today that it will be offering a special membership package in celebration of World Water Day.  For one day only, March 22nd, supporters will receive a free limited edition World Water Day t-shirt when they join or renew their memberships or make a donation to the Surfrider Foundation.

The Surfrider Foundation will also offer a limited number of “premium” World Water Day membership packages.  The first 100 people to join or renew their membership at the $100 level, will receive the World Water Day t-shirt and a pair of Teva’s new Fuse-ion shoes, which feature Teva’s unique Spider Rubber + JStep outsole and ion-mask™ technology throughout.

“From whitewater to surf, the Teva brand is synonymous with water,” says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation’s Director of Marketing & Communications.   We could not be more excited to be partnered with them for World Water Day.”

In addition to the World Water Day membership/donation drive, Teva is launching its World Water Day challenge asking participants to give up water in one simple area of their lives for the day. From no showers, laundry and teeth brushing to waterless culinary creativity, the day promises to be one full of stories and building awareness for clean water. Specially designed social media cover photos and pinable posters will be available via the brand’s Facebook page and blog starting Monday, March 19th.

“Teva has a long standing passion for clean water, the source of both life and our recreation,” says Will Pennartz, Teva Lifestyle Marketing Manager. “It is our responsibility to help in the protection of these playgrounds for future generations. Through the World Water Day challenge we hope we can inspire a larger community to join us as we raise awareness for clean water.”

Teva and the Surfrider Foundation also call on people to do small “fix it” projects around the house to conserve water:
  • Check faucets and pipes for leaks
  • Use a broom to sweep driveways and sidewalks
  • Take shorter showers
  • Utilize climate adapted plants in yard and landscaping
Founded in 1993 by the United Nations, World Water Day is a global observance that highlights the need for care and management of our world’s water resources.  The Surfrider Foundation celebrates World Water Day to help educate and drive awareness and support for its various clean water campaigns and programs.
