April 20, 2005: Surfrider Meets with Comunidad Campo Alegre

Comunidad Campo Alegre, Rincón, PR – As part of its ongoing efforts to collaborate with other community groups and to increase awareness of the Reserva Marina Tres Palmas, Surfrider Rincón participated in the Comunidad Campo Alegre's April get-together.

Each month, members of Comunidad Campo Alegre get together in Calvache to discuss community needs, organize volunteer activities and foster a dynamic local community.

In March, Comunidad Campo Alegre conducted a neighborhood clean-up. In April the group held a BINGO fundraiser and a workshop "Managing your Personal Finances."

During the April 20th neighborhood meeting, Surfrider made a presentation on the Reserva Marina Tres Palmas, the forthcoming process to create a Management Plan and other outreach and education activities.

Surfrider volunteer Steve Tamar coordinated with Campo Alegre's Noriega to make the evening possible.
