December 5, 2002 -Bill to Establish Marine Reserve Mostly
Receives Support at Public Hearings
San Juan, PR -- The first public hearings for P.
de la. C. 2983 to establish the "Law of the
Tres Palmas Marine Reserve in Rincón" were held by the Natural Resource and
Environmental Quality Commission at the Capitolio at 10:00 am on December 5th.
The salón de audiencias 2 was standing room only with the overwhelming majority
of the onlookers supporting the bill.
The hearings were conducted by Representative Jorge A. "Georgie" Fuentes Matta
with the assistance of senior staffer Amarilis Cajigas Toledo. In addition to
speaking at the hearing, deponents were asked to submit their comments in writing
