| Versión española January 25, 2006 – GAT Meets to Work On Tres Palmas Management Plan
 Rincón, PR -- The Steering Committee (Comité Timón) for the Reserva Marina Tres Palmas Management Plan welcomed the Technical Advisory Committee (Grupo Asesor Técnico - GAT) to a workshop designed to continue the development of the management plan and seek the guidance from this group of experts.
The GAT represent a wide-ranging set of expertise that includes land use planning, oceanography, fisheries, resource management, living resources (coral reefs), economic development, education and law. Attending members of the GAT include: Silvia Abadía, Physical Planning Unit, Commonwealth’s Planning Board Annette Blasini, Rincón Andrés Romeu, Rincón José Vega, Center for Economic Development, UPR-Mayagüez Wilson Ramírez, Geology Department, UPR-Mayagüez  The group discussed the development of the management plan and the role the GAT will play in advising the process of developing a sound plan.
The groups broke up into 4 groups to review the current draft of the management plan and discuss ways to improve the plan. The groups were organized by theme:
A major emphasis was increased outreach and discussion of the RMTP in the community. Several strategies were discussed to increase community input including educational programs in the schools and providing more information for the community. The GAT also recommended a strong linkage between this effort and the development of the Land Use Plan for Rincón, a matter thoroughly discussed and considered in previous meetings of the Steering Committee. The Grupo Asesor Técnico and the Comité Timón will continue to refine and improve the plan this spring while integrating opportunities for public participation. ------------- English version above 25 de enero, 2006 -- GAT Se Reunió para Trabajar en el Plan de Manejo de Tres Palmas
 Rincón, PR – El Comité Timón del Plan de Manejo de la Reserva Marina Tres Palmas (RMTP) le dió la bienvenida al Grupo Asesor Técnico (GAT) a un taller especial diseñado para continuar el desarrollo del plan de manejo y buscar asesoramiento de éste grupo de expertos.
El GAT tienen representación de un muy variado grupo de peritaje el cual incluye planficación, oceanografía, pesquería, manejo de recursos, recursos vivientes (arrecifes), desarollo económico, educación y derecho. Miembros del GAT que participaron incluyó: Silvia Abadía, Directora del Area de Planificación Física, La Junta de Planificación Annette Blasini, Rincón Andrés Romeu, Rincón José Vega, Director del Centro Desarrollo Económico, UPR-Mayagüez Wilson Ramírez, Departamento de Geología, UPR-Mayagüez  El grupo discutió el desarrollo del plan de manejo y el rol que el GAT jugará en asesorar el proceso para crear un plan eficaz.
El grupo se dividió en 4 grupos (por tema) para discutir de que manera se puede mejorar el plan.
El GAT también recomendó un enlace sólido entre este esfuerzo y el desarrollo del Plan de Ordenación Territorial de Rincón, tema discutido a fondo y considerado en reuniones pasadas del Comité Timón. El GAT y el Comité Timón continuarán mejorando el plan en los próximos meses, mientras integran oportunidades para más partcipación pública. |
