SANTA BARBARA CREEK WEEK
CREEK WEEK IS OCTOBER 6-14 GREAT EVENTS!
Creek Week is an annual series of events which highlight our
local creeks and watersheds and the many ways to enjoy, restore
and protect them. Creek Week 2007 is set for October
6-14. This year_s events include native planting days, creek
clean-ups, multi-media creek art created by youth, water quality
monitoring and more. The event is coordinated by the City of
Santa Barbara Creeks Division and County Project Clean Water,
with events hosted by several community organizations.
Also in the line-up is a community forum on Plastics and Marine
Debris with guests Holly Lohuis, a marine biologist and diver
with Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society and Marcus
Eriksen from the Algalita Marine Research Foundation. Hear their
firsthand experience with marine debris in remote areas of the
world including the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Watch incredible
footage of the expedition "Voyage to Kure" and a see
a collection of plastics gathered from these remote islands.
Thursday, October 11 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Cabrillo Pavillion.
