CHAPTER GENERAL INTEREST MEETING

Surfrider Foundation Santa Barbara Chapter is excited
to guest speaker Ray Ward, Chair of the Chumash Maritime Association
(CMA) at our next general interest meeting Thursday, August 7
at 7:00 PM at the Watershed Resource Center.
CMA works to develop and implement programs and activities related
to indigenous Chumash maritime culture, including the building
and repair of the tomols, the traditional Chumash plank canoes.
CMA educates members of the Chumash community and others, through
storytelling, lectures, classes, cultural arts activities, and
public outreach. CMA teachers respect for our ancestors and ourselves
by continuing the traditions of our maritime culture.

Enjoy an informative presentation and discussion and socialize
with like-minded folks in a casual setting. Please join us to
find out what issues and challenges face our coast and ocean
and ways to get involved. Refreshments provided. FREE, open to
