MORE INFO

Join the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation for a new year's celebration of fashion and fun at "Martinis and Bikinis."

Local surf shops and community designers will highlight their 2008 men & women's clothing lines on the runway.  Clothing Designers from Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and New York include swimwear and surfwear clothing from Feisty Swimwear, The Beach House, Truman & Grace, Betty Belts, The Bikini Factory, Happy Endings apparel, Low Tide Rising, Solitude Clothing, Super Buddha, Surf Country, and J7 Surf.

A no-host p.i.n.k. Vodka Martini bar (with special mixed martinis for the event by Milk & Honey Restaurant), as well as New Blegium Brewing and Twin Fin wine bar will be complimented by hors d'oeuvres provided by Mondial/Quantum, Louie's California Bistro, the Sojourner Café, Village Modern Foods, Duo Catering and Aldo's Italian Restaurant. Additional drink sponsors include New Belgium Brewing Company beer, Twin Fin Wines, Matilija Water, Caribbean Coffee and Red Bull energy drink.

The event aims to raise much needed funds to protect coastal resources threatened by development - specifically at the Santa Barbara Ranch which proposes building up to 75 mega-mansions, plus guest houses and out buildings, in the "Naples" area north of Goleta. The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation continues to work to prevent inappropriate development along the Gaviota coast, ensuring preservation of the rural character of our coast from urban sprawl.

Live surf-inspired rock music by "Kelp" (from 7-8p.m.) will be followed by DJ JPatrick who will spin during the fashion show and for the rest of the evening.

Raffle and Silent Auction items have been generously donated by The Four Seasons Biltmore, The Upham Hotel, OS3 Skateboards, Sustainable Vine, Jack Johnson and Oniric Records, Low Tide Rising Apparel, Teva, Simple Shoes, Third World Surfboards, The SB Museum of Natural History, Zog's, Chocolate Maya, Super Buddha Clothing, Embe Fashion, Tikiwaxx, The Church of Skatan, Aldo's Italian Restaurant, as well as artwork and prints by Hank Pitcher, Amy Bird, Brenden Arroyan, Dan Merkel, Mike Ackerman and much more.

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of our world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through  conservation, activism, research and education. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 60 chapters across the United States and Puerto Rico, with international affiliates in Australia, Europe, Japan and Brazil.

Santa Barbara Chapter Surfrider is a local, all-volunteer ocean and watershed environmental group, comprised of surfers and non-surfers alike, working on public access issues, beach clean-ups, school outreach programs, and protecting the beaches, water quality and open spaces that we love!
