2006-07 CHAPTER OFFICERS

Our chapter elections for new officers resulted in big changes. Bob Keats, vice chair for the past 4 years finally just couldn't continue and Sandy Lejeune was elected to take his place. Sandy has done an excellent job over the past year as Secretary and is a very steady, smart and tactful person, a surfer, a farmer, and he'll be great in that job.

I too stepped down and Scott Bull was elected and I cannot say enough about him. More energy than any other three Executive Committee members combined, very well connected to the local environmental and surfing community for many years he will lead our chapter to new heights, I'm sure.

Nathan "Nato" Camp agreed to stay on as treasurer for one more year which is terrific as he has brought a level of sophistication to our financial records that many modern organizations would envy.

Last, and by no means least, Mark Morey, long time activist, Executive Committee member, big wave body boarder ( on temporary hold while his catastrophic femur fracture slowly slowly heals), former Secretary and PhD scientist and radical thinker was elected to once again keep the record straight and humorous as our new secretary

(written by former chair Ken Palley). THANKS KEN AND OUTGOING OFFICERS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION!!

NEW CHAPTER CHAIR- SCOTT BULL

Scott Bull completed a BS in Environmental Science Degree from and Master's Degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Ecology from UCSB.   While an undergraduate at UCSB, Scott co-founded the Isla Vista Chapter Surfrider Foundation and led an initiative that established the Shoreline Preservation Fund, which distributes $320,000 per year for local coastal enhancement grants.

Scott is a member of the Gaviota Coast Conservancy, Goleta Valley Beautiful, and Citizens Planning Association Board of Directors. Scott's full-time employment is with UCSB as the Shoreline Preservation Fund Grants Manager and Student Affairs Advisor for several environmental organizations at UCSB including Isla Vista Surfrider, Environmental Affairs Board, Associated Students Recycling Program, and Associated Students BIKES.
