SNOWRIDER PROJECT -
The Snowrider Project, sponsored by the Surfrider Foundation, is dedicated to empower, enlighten and educate "Snowriding" enthusiasts everywhere. Informing people about the intimate and powerful connections between the snow, land, and surf, helps to demonstrate how each of these ecosystems must be preserved, protected and restored in order to help insure the future health of our environment. It is also the Seattle Chapter's strongest program, Thanks to its long time Coordinator Mike McCann.
Check out more about our Snowrider Project or would like to volunteer at one of our many Snowrider events this winter please e-mail Mike at Snowrider@hotmail.com.
RESPECT THE BEACH PROGRAM -
The Seattle Chapter’s former Respect The Beach Coordinator, Kate Johnson, made serious progress during 2006, in implementing a full curriculum in Seattle Schools. She partnered with Stephanie Raymond from People For Puget Sound who provided much guidance and support in attaining our common goal of educating kids (and parents) about preserving water quality and marine habitat for years to come.
Kate has recently relocated to Maui, we wish her luck and extend our thanks for all her hard work with Respect the Beach in 2006. We would love to see the program continue in 2007, if you have any interest in picking up where Kate left off,
please contact us. Seattle@surfrider.org.

BLUE WATER TASK FORCE -
We've been Testing - Check out the most recent testing results of Seattle's Blue Water Task Force! Check out More on our Blue Water Task Force Program One of the keys to the success of this ongoing program is YOU! We need volunteer sample collectors and lab techs to insure that the BWTF program is successful for a long time to come. Even if you have only a short window of time to contribute to the program, now is the time to learn about the sampling process. Any amount of time you can give is the right amount. Help keep your local beach CLEAN!
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to head up this nationally recognized program and to be part of the Seattle Chapter's Executive committee. If you would like more info: Blue Water Task Force,
or if you would like to volunteer please email us at Seattle@Surfrider.org.
OCEAN FRIENDLY GARDENS -
Runoff from residential landscapes affects the quality of our oceans and the quality of our lives. The sediment in water reduces clarity; nutrients increase algae populations and red tides; bacteria close beaches; debris can choke and suffocate aquatic species; and pesticides picked up off a landscape can poison fish consumed by humans — all of which degrade the natural beauty, and our enjoyment, of the ocean.
The good news is that you can help bring back healthy coasts and oceans though CPR© — Conservation, Permeability and Retention. It’s a way for all of us to design and maintain our gardens so that we can reduce urban runoff — and the pollutants that go with it.
We are currently looking to test out this program, the most recent of Surfrider National. We here at the Seattle Chapter think its a perfect fit in our communities
for more info check out our Ocean Friendly Gardens Page, Or Email us if you interested in heading up this program at Seattle@Surfrider.org.
