Surfrider Foundation and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center have joined forces to increase public awareness about water quality at South Florida’s Beaches. The South Florida Chapter of Surfrider, a non-profit organization environmental organization, has donated water quality testing supplies to the Biscayne Nature Center located at Crandon Beach, Key Biscayne. Crandon Beach has been an area of concern for South Florida beachgoers, having been closed several times due to high fecal coliform (bacteria) counts. The presence of such bacteria can be threatening to human health, as well as the health of the marine environment. See our water test results here: www.surfrider.org/whatwedo3c.asp |
