The Massachusetts chapter worked with local activists to help Andover pass a law that bans plastic bags at “food establishments” (Article 55).
The chapter submitted a letter of testimony and participated in an online business forum to support the campaign.
The ordinance passed on May 1, 2018, and goes into effect on January 2, 2019.
For more information or to engage in the chapter's ongoing efforts to mitigate plastic bag pollution in Massachusetts, please email the MA Chapter's volunteer campaign coordinator, Alex Vai.
Another important way to support our work is to join or renew your Surfrider Foundation membership, and come get active with our chapter! Email our chair for information on monthly meetings and other ways to engage.
