The Surfrider Foundation is seeking developers on a contract basis to help complete work for some of our most high-profile projects. Developers will work with our Technology Manager to gather project requirements, review, and complete testing. Come code for our oceans!

Blue Water Task Force is the largest volunteer-run beach water testing program in the country, and this year, we relaunched the platform on Amazon Web Services with a progressive web app, backed by a GraphQL API. We now need to refine our GraphQL schema and back-end development environment. 

  • GraphQL schema design and development
  • AWS (Amplify CLI, Appsync, DynamoDB)
  • Required languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript, GraphQL, Node.js
  • Git version control

We also produce a website theme for our nationwide network of chapters, and are looking to update the frontend assets, and build some additional integrations with our CRM.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

Front end:

  • Must be comfortable with HTML, SCSS, and JS. Experience with Wordpress’s Gutenberg, and PHP would be helpful. 


  • Must be comfortable working within the Wordpress ecosystem and working with APIs. PHP will be necessary
