Global Gathering to Protect and Enjoy on International Surfing Day

On Saturday, June 16, the Surfrider Foundation and international affiliates hosted events around the globe in celebration of the 14th International Surfing Day (ISD), an annual day to raise awareness, support and engage communities to help protect our ocean, waves and beaches for future generations.

With the theme, ‘Protect and Enjoy,’ local events ranged from surfing, standup paddleboarding and kayaking competitions to beach cleanups and collaborations with organizations to bring kids and underserved communities to the beach. Established in 2005 by the Surfrider Foundation and other surf industry organizations, the event has now grown into a global activation. This year, thousands of participants joined more than 100 events in 10 countries in celebration of International Surfing Day.
