Join us for Coastal Recreation Hill Day in Washington DC

by Pete Stauffer

Please join us in Washington D.C. for an experience you won’t soon forget. Our nation’s elected officials need to hear the voice of the coastal recreation community!

On February 26-28, 2020, Surfrider members, recreation industry leaders, and our partners will convene in Washington D.C. to ask our nation’s leaders to protect our coasts and ocean. Come visit with congressional offices, network with advocates from around the country, and enjoy social events in the evening.

Both Congress and the Trump adminstration are considering policies that will damage coastal resources and the socioeconomic benefits they provide. Ocean recreation and tourism is enjoyed by over 100 million Americans and generates over $124 billion for our nation's economy every year. Yet, our federal government is weakening clean water and climate change policies, proposing new offshore oil drilling, and failing to address the plastic pollution crisis.

Surfrider's goal for Hill Day is to elevate the voice of the coastal recreation community and inspire stronger federal leadership on these critical issues. Our lobby priorities include:

  • Take Action on Climate Change
  • Protect Clean Water & Public Health
  • Reduce Plastic Pollution
  • Defend Public Lands & Waters
