LA Unified and Jamba Juice Ditch Expanded Polystyrene Foam!!

by Bill Hickman

Two major announcements lately show the public demand to ditch expanded polystyrene foam is stronger than ever!

A determined ten-year old has convinced Jamba Juice to replace their foam cups with more sustainable ones by the end of 2013, started by an online petition.  While there are better disposable options than expanded polystyrene, the best option is to remember your reusable cup!

Meanwhile, determined students at an LA area middle school convinced the entire LA Unified School District to ditch foam lunch trays in their cafeterias - saving the district millions of dollars.  Gotta love the young activists!

Now we need to parlay this into a statewide foam foodware phase out for California by passing SB 568.  If you are a California resident, please sign our Action Alert to phase out foam foodware statewide then call your legislator’s office, the # will be provided.  We expect a vote by Tuesday so please act TODAY!
