REN Clean Skincare Collaborates with Surfrider Chapters to Support the L.A. Community

REN Clean Skincare has supported the Surfrider Foundation's mission to protect clean water and healthy beaches, for all people, since 2018. Integral to the brand's identity is their core value of creating products that are “Clean to Skin, Clean to Planet”— a mantra rooted in the brand's philosophy that human health and the wellbeing of our planet are deeply interconnected.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, REN worked to identify new ways to continue supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals and organizations in the communities where they operate. Early on, the brand shifted production assets to manufacture an FDA-approved hand sanitizer, an Alcohol Antiseptic 80% Topical Solution that will not be available for sale; instead, REN has donated 10,000 units to frontline workers and environmental charity partners. While handwashing remains the primary advice for protection against COVID-19 transmission, this hand sanitizer provides an on-the-go, FDA-approved hygiene top-up for when washing with soap and water may not be possible.

With an office in El Segundo, REN's roots in the U.S. are planted solidly in the greater Los Angeles community, so in collaboration with the L.A. and South Bay Chapters, the REN team recently donated 4,900 units of bottled hand sanitizer to local organizations for distribution to community members in need.

The South Bay Chapter organized a delivery of hand sanitizer on behalf of REN Clean Skincare to the Beach Cities Health District, a local organization whose mission is to enhance community health through partnerships, programs and services for people who live and work in Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo Beach.

The Los Angeles Chapter additionally helped facilitate donations of hand sanitizer to:

  • Pacoima Beautiful, a grassroots environmental justice organization that provides education, impacts public policy, and supports local arts and culture in order to promote a healthy and sustainable San Fernando Valley.
  • East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, a community-based organization that works to facilitate self-advocates in East Los Angeles, Southeast Los Angeles and Long Beach.
  • API Forward Movement, an organization dedicated to cultivating healthy, long-lasting, and vibrant Asian and Pacific Islander communities through grassroots organizing to help ensure that Asian and Pacific Islander communities – and all communities of color – have full power to access good health and a healthy environment.

Thanks to our partners at REN for their generous product donation, and to the Los Angeles and South Bay Chapters for coordinating and delivering these donations in service of their communities!
