| View in browser Did you know that sea levels are expected to rise 1 foot by 2050 and rise 7 feet in many areas by 2100?!    As our sea levels rise, restoring and adaptively managing our beaches, dunes and wetlands is critical. That’s why Surfrider Miami is focused on nature-based solutions as a frontline defense against climate change!   We protect our local dunes by removing invasive species and planting native plants. These dunes act like nature intended, forming a barrier protecting the inland from the ocean.   On April 20, 2024, on Miami Beach, Surfrider will be launching its Climate Action Program as a first line of defense against a changing climate on our coasts! Further details on the event and registration are below.    Throughout the year, this program with more than 1,500 volunteers will plant over 25,000 native plants along coastal dunes and wetlands in Florida, Hawaii, California, Texas, Puerto Rico, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Wisconsin and Maine. Join us on April 20th and consider becoming a Surfrider Miami member to continue fighting climate change. Join us in Miami Beach on April 20th at 8 am ET as we unveil Surfrider Foundation's groundbreaking Climate Action Program and help restore critical dune habitat.   We’ll also be celebrating our chapter’s years of coastal restoration work. Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd by dining at Sushi Maki to donate 10% of your check to protect & preserve our ocean!   All you have to do is mention Surfrider Miami at the register or use the code “EarthDay” when you order on the Sushi Maki app. Join us in downtown Miami Shores for Green Day 2024 on April 27th from 3 pm - 7:30 pm ET!    Enjoy an afternoon on NE 2nd Avenue filled with family fun, food, live music, shopping and a celebration of all things green and good for the environment! Meet us at Shoe Gallery on May 9th from 7 pm - 11 pm ET for a Surfrider Miami Movie Night!    The surfing community will gather for an overdue night of film, music and art, chillin' with the surf brothas & sistas and tasty grub & libations.   Featured films will range from state-of-the-art modern surfing, soul style, power & grace of the ladies and local footage by local behind-the-lens talent.   Local cerveza by Veza Sur, fine wines, food truck eats, DJ sets by Safe and amazing retail experience by the Shoe Gallery.
