In 2023 our volunteers:

  • Collected and tested nearly 1,100 water quality samples.
  • Diverted over 50,000 cigarette butts from our streets and oceans.
  • Taught 25 people how to swim.
  • Took 15 of our new swimmers surfing.
  • Completed 15 beach cleanups.
  • Led 5 dune restorations.
  • And More!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every one of you who volunteers your precious free time! As they say…it takes a village.

The ocean always needs more friends - we hope you’ll join our efforts as a volunteer in 2024.

January 23, 2024 is Florida Healthy Beaches Day at our State Capitol in Tallahassee! We are proud to have a representative from our Surfrider Miami chapter attending to advocate for our ocean, waves and beaches with our elected officials!

By combining forces with other Surfrider Florida chapters, we will continue to grow our presence with the legislature to influence real change throughout the state.

If you feel like legislation is something that you would like to help us with at a local, and in the future state and national level, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.

On February 28-29, Surfrider Foundation will host the 8th Annual Coastal Recreation Hill Day! Hundreds of Surfrider activists from chapters and student clubs across the country will virtually meet with our elected representatives in Congress to carry forward your demand for clean water and healthy beaches for all.

Our goal is to elevate the voice of the coastal recreation community and inspire stronger federal leadership on these critical issues.

Are you a strong public speaker, actively engaged in Surfrider Miami’s efforts, located in local Congressional districts, and interested in attending to advocate for clean water and healthy beaches? If so, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.

Rise Above Plastics (RAP) Program@2x-1

We are looking for a Rise Above Plastics (RAP) Lead to help us raise awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution, by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics and work alongside other RAP volunteers to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment. If you want to help us stop plastic at the source, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org.

General Legislative Lead@2x

As we enter the 2024 Legislative Session, we are in need of a General Legislative Lead to keep their pulse on relevant legislation and opportunities to speak in front of the commission at both City and County levels, as well as motivate our followers and volunteers. If you or someone you know would be a great candidate, please email chair@miami.surfrider.org today!
