San Clemente, CA., April 11, 2016 – The Surfrider Foundation announced its 2015 Wavemaker Award recipients which recognizes individuals and companies for their outstanding volunteer efforts and support to fulfill Surfrider’s mission of protecting our ocean, waves and beaches for all of us to enjoy.
Surfrider celebrates the special recognition and outstanding work of an individual who demonstrate a commitment to coastal protection by honoring them with the Wavemaker award for Coastal Protection. The 2015 winner is Cruz Bustamente who has help guide decisions to conserve our natural resources for the legacy of our children’s children.
“The dedication of our volunteers and activists is awe inspiring. The Wavemaker Awards are attempt to recognize stellar individuals and businesses that help us achieve our mission,” noted Michelle Kremer, the COO of the Surfrider Foundation.

Since 2000 when the award was created, Surfrider receives nominations from its staff and Board of Directors for the Wavemaker Award, and those submissions represent the exemplary work of the Surfrider chapter network - 85 chapters and 50 youth engagement clubs – individuals and companies who provide support to Surfrider.
