Ocean Friendly Gardens 2025 Impacts

It’s been an awesome year for Ocean Friendly Gardens across the Surfrider network! Thank you all for your endless dedication to protecting clean water by creating, stewarding, and advocating for resilient ocean-friendly landscapes in your communities. 

Together we’ve:

  • Hosted 97 OFG events & workdays
  • Planted 2,905 native plants & trees
  • Created or expanded 12 new OFG projects
  • Registered 26.4 acres of OFGs to the map
  • Filtered 23.1 million gallons of ocean-bound runoff through OFGs across the country

Our chapter network (& 1 club!) hosted an incredible 97 events in 2025. Twelve new or expanded OFG installation projects, 79 stewardship workdays, 2 garden dedications, 2 garden hangouts,1 expert panel, and 1 community mural painting.

  • Virginia Chapter
    • 5 workdays at Wildfowl Heritage Museum
