2025 One Ocean in Montauk, New York

At the Surfrider Foundation's annual One Ocean gala in Montauk, New York, we rallied one of our most dedicated coastal communities to celebrate our recent victories and raise critical funds to further our mission. On August 9, 400 supporters and cultural icons returned to the iconic Crow's Nest, where guests enjoyed views of Lake Montauk, live DJ sets, craft drinks, one-of-a-kind silent and live auctions, and a farm-to-table dinner.

One Ocean supports Surfrider’s clean water efforts, coastal resilience, and plastic pollution reduction work nationally and in Eastern Long Island communities in a variety of ways, including:

• Protecting Public Health Through Water Quality Monitoring – Surfrider’s Eastern Long Island Blue Water Task Force fills critical gaps in beach water testing, while our federal advocacy secured continued funding for the BEACH Act — ensuring families know when it's safe to swim at local beaches.
• Leading the Fight Against Plastic Pollution – Surfrider has led successful campaigns for “Skip the Stuff” policies in East Hampton Village and NYC to cut down on single-use plastic pollution associated with takeout, and are now scaling these victories statewide by advancing plastics legislation that could protect coastlines across the entire state.
• Building Climate Resilience on Long Island – From dune grass restoration projects that strengthen our coastline against storms to our network of Ocean Friendly businesses and year-round beach cleanups, we're taking comprehensive action to protect Montauk and the East End for future generations.

The 2025 gala honored Wavemakers Taylor and Liev Schreiber, long-time ocean conservation advocates, whose ongoing support has amplified Surfrider’s impact not just on the East Coast, but across the country as well.

“I was blown away by everything Surfrider is doing to protect our ocean and coastlines, and I knew I wanted to be involved,” said Mrs. Schreiber. “I am on the board of my family’s foundation, The Ludwick Family Foundation, and each year we give grants to organizations that are making the world a better place. Surfrider is doing exactly that, and our foundation has been honored to play a small part.”
