Trent leads the Plastic Pollution initiative of the Surfrider Foundation and supports the 80 chapters and 80+ clubs across the country carry out their advocacy campaigns and programs that reduce plastic pollution at the source. This work includes tracking and advocating for local, state and national legislation that addresses single-use plastic, working within national and international coalitions to stop plastic pollution, and leading Surfrider’s programs which include Ocean Friendly Restaurants, the Rise Above Plastics program, and the Beach Cleanups program that work towards protecting our ocean from plastic.
Trent first felt the calling of ocean advocacy while attending the Coastal Commission hearing for the “Save Trestles” campaign. Seeing ocean advocates and guardians come together to protect their special place made a lasting mark that led him towards a career in ocean protection and advocacy.
Trent loves all water activities including surfing, prone paddling, swimming, and sailing. His 84 pound chocolate lab “Duke” is his constant companion and best friend.
