Our Ocean Friends are a group of local water and wave enthusiasts who ensure our ocean, beaches and waterways remain clean and accessible for all to enjoy. They are the reason our Miami beaches shine, our waves are protected and our ocean thrives. Meet more Ocean Friends by following us on Facebook or Instagram.

As a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, you can also become a friend of the ocean and help us protect what we all love!

Become a friend of the ocean by volunteering in one of our many programs, such as Blue Water Task Force, Ocean Friendly Restaurants, Composting, SEAS (a swimming and surfing ocean advocacy program) and more. Our programs provide a fun and easy way to volunteer and keep our beaches and coastline clean. You can also help us on the back-end with organization and administration, social media, legislation etc.

Join our network and help us tackle the issues that face our ocean, waves and beaches.

These rewarding team-building activities are designed specifically for your group or organization, where you all can do good while being part of the solution to environmental issues affecting our city. Surfrider Miami will guide you through a day of impact engagement by restoring the sand dunes, cleaning up our beaches and waterways or tailor an experience specifically for your team.

Want to learn how to compost at home? Join the in-person “Composting at Home 101” workshop presented by a Master Gardener from the University of Florida/Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension Service on Saturday, March 30th from 3 PM - 4:30 PM at the Miami Beach Regional Library.

You’ll learn a step-by-step process to turn food scraps, leaves, branches, paper plates and other recyclable materials into rich, organic soil called compost.

Group 33@2x-1

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will receive a voucher for one FREE composting bin (one per household, Miami-Dade residents only) while supplies last.

Alternatively, if you are a Miami Beach resident and are ready to compost now, sign up for a free compost bin through the Composting Program we are running in collaboration with the City of Miami Beach.
