Its National Oceans Month!

The ocean makes up most of our planet, and plays a crucial role in our health and survival. Keeping it clean and healthy is crucial for our planet and future generations.

At Surfrider, we strongly feel that the ocean needs more friends, and would love for YOU to also become a friend of the ocean.

If you aren’t already a volunteer of Surfrider Miami, join our network and help us tackle the issues that face our ocean, waves and beaches.

Respect the beach

With summer quickly approaching, check out these tips to have an ocean-friendly beach day:

  • Leave no trace. Pick up after yourself and others to leave the beach better than you found it.
  • Choose to reuse. Bring reusable foodware and drinkware instead of single-use plastics.
  • Use reef-safe sunscreen. Opt for non-nano mineral-based sunscreens instead of chemical-based sunscreens.
  • Respect wildlife. Keep a safe distance from nesting birds, sea turtles, other wildlife and their habitats.
