The Cape Fear Chapter is asking New Hanover County to consider a ban on single-use plastic bags and placing a fee on recycled content paper bags. The Cape Fear Chapter has gathered resolutions of support for the bag ordinance from all the coastal towns in the County and is looking to work with County Comissioners to develop a countywide ordinance that would ban plastic checkout bags and put a small fee on paper bags to encourage people to remember their reusable bags.
Rise Above Plastics is designed to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment by raising awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics.Learn More
