7-year ban on domestic drilling
On December 1st, the Obama Administration announced that they will not open new offshore drilling leases along the continental United States for the next seven years. This is a reversal from plans, announced in March 2010, to open new leases in the south Atlantic, eastern Gulf of Mexico and in Alaska.
