Bear Proof Garbage Cans

The Pacific Rim Chapter installed two new bear proof garbage cans at 431 gardens lot and at South Chestermans. The chapter did two separate fundraising events with local restaurants to raise money to provide 2 “bear proof” garbage cans at two of the beach trails. One can is at Cox Bay, the other at South Chesterman's- previously there were no cans there, and it was a constant problem with the trash around that area. The chapter provided the cans and had plaques made for them recognizing the Surfrider Foundation for providing them and then the District of Tofino empties them on a daily basis as part of their route.
