NJ Beach Access Rules

To not let the state of NJ change the rules regarding public access to waterways so as to allow towns to get state beach replenishment dollars but also create their own plans for public access.

The NJ DEP is proposing new public access rules that would be a major turnaround from the previous rules that are just 3 years old. The changes would let towns come up with their own public access plans. The changes would also allow state money for beach replenishment to go to towns with poor beach access, whereas now that is prohibited. There are only a handful of towns with inaccessible beaches in NJ, but the chapters feel those towns should not get our money for beachfill. The rule change would also affect access to bays, harbors, and river fronts.
