Get EPS Foam Food Packaging Out of Maine!

Plastic Pollution

After the successful campaign our Chapter helped win in the summer of 2014, where the City of Portland banned EPS foam food packaging, the 127th Maine State Legislature considered a bill that would ban EPS foam food packaging in the state!

The Chapter rallied to support this important bill but had a tough battle to fight, considering the layout of the administration.  Unfortunately, the bill didn't make it.

Read about how the bill died and see how YOUR legislators voted by visiting:  http://legislature.maine.gov/LawMakerWeb/summary.asp?LD=468&SessionID=11 (read the text here:  LD 468, An Act To Prohibit the Use of Certain Disposable or Polystyrene Food Service Containers).

Plastic Pollution

Rise Above Plastics is designed to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment by raising awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics.
