Established 35 years ago, surrounded by the towering redwoods that dominate Mendocino County’s coastal ecosystem, Anderson Valley Brewing Company (AVBC) is one of California’s longest-running independent breweries with a long-standing commitment to environmentally-friendly brewing practices. In recognizing it as one of the world's most important resources, AVBC is paying it forward to protect clean water- which also happens to be beer’s most important ingredient- with the release of their new limited edition Coastal Ale.
The family behind Anderson Valley Brewing Company cares deeply about the environment and has invested in the infrastructure needed to lighten the footprint of their business. They are the world's first solar powered brewery, they operate their own completely self-contained water system, where they treat and return 100% of the water back to their property, and they operate a nitrogen generator to help reduce their CO2 usage by up to 80%. To support local agriculture and further offset waste, all their spent grains and yeast from the brewing process are repurposed to feed local cattle. In addition, all of their packaging is plastic free and made up of either recyclable cardboard or aluminum.

At 4.5% ABV the Coastal Ale is light-bodied but full flavored with juicy, fruity hop aroma. 5% of the gross profit from the sale of all Coastal Ale packaged beer will be donated directly to the Surfrider Foundation to support our mission to protect our treasured ocean, waves and beaches for all.
