Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project 2013

The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, an ongoing partnership between the Surfrider Foundation and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, celebrated a “splashingly” successful seventh year of keeping our beaches “barefoot friendly” across America.  Each summer, the Project travels coast-to-coast, calling on local Surfrider members and community volunteers to join in cleaning and restoring our nations oceans, rivers and lakes. As a thank you to volunteers for their efforts, participants were invited to attend a post-cleanup celebration featuring surf-inspired fare, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, as well as live musical performances at select locations.

This summer, the Project visited a total of 16 cities to cleanup, restore and celebrate local oceans, waves and beaches.  In appreciation of community efforts, “hometown hero” musicians including Lee DeWyze, Jacob Jeffries, Eric Hutchinson, Vicci Martinez, and Ryan Star joined the Project in their cities, cleaning alongside volunteers and performing fan favorites. With the help of more than 10,000 volunteers, the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project has cleaned more than 118 beaches, rivers and lakes while removing more than 14 tons of trash to date.

The Surfrider Foundation wishes to extend a warm thanks to this year’s participating Chapters, Hunter Public Relations, Stephanie Gallo, Tim Cannon, and the rest of the Barefoot team for their time and efforts in making this year’s Project a huge success!
