As Surfrider's Living Shorelines Coordinator, Alex (she/her) focuses on coastal resiliency projects centered around nature-based solutions.
Alex's advocacy work began in the rock climbing industry, where she advocated for land use access and co-founded a network to increase diverse female representation in rock climbing. Off land, Alex has worked on the ocean as a naturalist and passionately seeks to connect new folks with the sea by connecting core memories on the water with education on the impact of marine preservation.
Previously, Alex served as the San Diego Chapter Manager, supporting and developing chapter campaigns, programs, and policy advocacy alongside dedicated volunteers. As a volunteer herself, she worked as a policy coordinator in the Rise Above Plastic Program, served on the Surfrider National Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion Board, and Chaired Surfrider San Diego's Executive Committee.
