Chapters, East Region
As the Eastern Long Island Chapter Coordinator, Jenna oversees all the chapter activities and helps keep everybody organized. Jenna’s role is to support the volunteers as they lead campaigns and programs, including one of the largest Blue Water Task Force efforts in the country.
Growing up in Northern New York, Jenna didn’t have much exposure to the ocean but was always intrigued. She graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.S. in Marine Vertebrate Biology and an M.A. in Marine Conservation and Policy. While Jenna loved her experiences working on various marine research projects throughout her career, she began to understand the growing need for environmental advocacy. This led her to work for other nonprofits at both the local and national level, including a few groups on Long Island, before finally landing her role at Surfrider. Jenna feels that this position is very much aligned with her personal passions and appreciates the opportunity to combine her background in science and education with grassroots action.
When she is not helping the chapter, Jenna enjoys doing yoga, traveling, scuba diving, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
