Prior to joining Surfrider as a legal associate, Tina Segura (she/her) worked as an enforcement officer at the California Coastal Commission for five years, where she held property owners accountable for violations of the Coastal Act, including violations to the Coastal Act policies requiring public access and protection of environmentally sensitive habitat areas. Before that, Tina worked as an attorney at a disability rights nonprofit, where she helped people with disabilities navigate the complexities of the American health insurance system. While working at the disability rights nonprofit, Tina simultaneously served as chairperson of the executive committee of the Surfrider Los Angeles Chapter. During law school, Tina interned at the L.A. County Public Defender's office and at a legal aid clinic on Skid Row and has always had a passion for social justice. Tina is delighted to have built a career that allows her to combine her passion for social justice and protecting the environment. When she’s not working, Tina enjoys traveling, surfing, diving, hanging out with other people’s pets, and generally being outside under the sun.
