VICOTRY! Governor DeSantis has Vetoed the house bill (HB741), which would have threatened clean energy in the state of Florida.

VICOTRY! Governor DeSantis has Vetoed the house bill 741, which would have threatened clean energy in the state of Florida. Thank you to all our chapters, members and volunteers for your calls, letters and amazing efforts to bring awareness to this issue and supporting clean energy.

Solar energy is an important tool against climate change. It is also an important green industry in the state of Florida. Data from the Washington Economics Group shows that the rooftop solar industry supports nearly 40,500 Florida jobs and provides a total economic impact of $18.3 billion.

Thousands of Floridians have sent emails, made phone calls, tweeted, texted, and showed up in person to voice their opposition to Senate Bill 1024 and House Bill 741 — bills that would put Florida’s growing rooftop solar industry in jeopardy.

Despite major public outcry, the bills have continued to progress through the legislature and passed. There is a veto campaign to stop this bad bill before the Governor signs it.

Some amendments have been made to the bills. Read here. Florida still lags way behind on clean energy options like solar. These bills penalize the private solar industry in Florida and protect the monopoly of coal burning electric utilities.

Calls are being made to the Governor to support this clean and abundant energy source in Florida.

The Floating Solar Arrays Bill HB 1411 passed however opening up new ways to use solar energy across manmade waterbodies in the state. Read here.
