Pass AB 2248 to Fund Clean Water Projects for the Tijuana River

AB 2248 would make $100 million in California's General Fund available for water quality projects related to rivers at the U.S-Mexico border, with $50 million specifically going towards projects for the Tijuana River.

The USMCA International Trade Agreement recently provided $300 million to fund comprehensive solutions to border pollution but the full cost of the proposed projects is more than double that amount.

The state appropriation through AB 2248 will help provide the funds needed to pursue the clean border water infrastructure solution that Surfrider and so many others support, and which we expect to result in 75% reduced pollution flows in the TJ River Valley in the next 7 years.
