Protect Our Ocean Creatures! Fund California’s Dept of Fish & Wildlife
Urge the state's Assembly Appropriations Committee to restore DFW funding in the governor's budget!
5/18/18 – A California Senate committee undermined efforts to better protect whales, sharks, fish and other ocean creatures this week by recommending AGAINST Governor Brown's proposed funding for California's Department of Fish & Wildlife. IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO HELP! We can urge the state's Assembly Appropriations Committee to restore the funding in the governor's budget.
Please call:
- Assemblymember Phil Ting, San Francisco, (916) 319-2019
- Assemblymember Richard Bloom, Santa Monica, (916) 319-2050
- Speaker of the Assembly Anthony Rendon, Los Angeles, (916) 319-2063
and ask that the governor's proposed funding for the Dept of Fish & Wildlife be reinstated in the budget.
Governor Jerry Brown has recommended improved funding for California's Department of Fish & Wildlife in the 2018 budget. The money would provide 38 new positions in the severely understaffed department, including ones tasked with developing a program to ensure “whale-safe” fisheries, and enabling greater marine enforcement around illegal wildlife tracking and fishing, as well as enforcement for California's network of marine protected areas.
