South Jersey - Longport, NJ Fee on Bags

Victory | November 20 2015

Plastic Pollution

The South Jersey Chapter wants to make Longport, NJ the first town in NJ to pass an ordinance regarding plastic bags as part of their "Downbeach" effort on bags including the towns of Ventnor and Margate too.

The South Jersey Chapter has teamed up with other organizations like Sustainable Margate and the Ventnor Green Team to educate and eventually legislate on plastic bags in the three "Downbeach" towns on Absecon Island, Ventnor, Margate and Longport. The Chapter has worked with these groups and merchants as well to create signs reminding customers to bring their own reuseable bags, they have shown the film "Bag It" to elected leaders and other officials, and they have conducted cleanups involving all of these groups and more.

Plastic Pollution

Rise Above Plastics is designed to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment by raising awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics.
