5/18/18 – AB 1775 is heading to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. Please call Asm Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, Chair of the Appropriations Committee at (916) 319-2080 and ask her to support AB 1775 and help protect California’s coastline, environment and economy by putting a stop to new offshore oil and gas drilling and production.

The Trump administration wants to drastically expand offshore drilling and exploration for oil and natural gas in federal waters off of California’s coast. In response, our state legislature is pushing back: AB 1775 (Asm Al Muratsuchi, Asm Monique Limón) and SB 834 (Sen Hannah-Beth Jackson, Sen Ricardo Lara) would prohibit the State Lands Commission from approving any new leases, or any lease renewals, extensions or modifications of any lease in state waters that would result in an increase of oil or natural gas production from federal waters. Expanded oil and gas development off of our coast significantly increases the risk of oil spills, which threaten the ocean, our wildlife and our coast. protect California’s coastline, our environment, and our economy by putting a stop to new offshore oil and gas drilling and production.
