The South Orange County Chapter has been making strides with their Ocean Friendly Restaurants program. With the amount of businesses signing on to the program actively ditching single-use plastics, the Orange County League of Conservation Voters honored the chapter with the Environmental Action Award for 2019.
The Environmental Action Award is presented in special recognition of Surfrider's work in the Ocean Friendly Restaurants program and for showing leadership in coastal efforts in Orange County. At the event, leaders of the South Orange County chapter gave a presentation to local elected officials and conservation voters about the impact of the Ocean Friendly Restaurants program and how it has become a positive force for businesses to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.
