As a co-founder of Oregon’s Siuslaw Chapter, Gus has been an active and inspiring member of the Surfrider staff for over 10 years. From his volunteer roots as Chapter Chair to his current position as the Washington Policy Manager, he is a strong advocate for ocean and coastal preservation policies. He works to engage the Washington Surfrider chapters in statewide campaigns and marine spatial planning, while promoting the land-sea connection through coastal activations. He gets his drive and inspiration from the activism of coastal leaders, as well as his son who will inherit this legacy of coastal stewardship. When he's not working, you can find him on the water or relaxing in his neighborhood, Rainier Beach.
