As Surfrider's Student Club Network Manager, Ryan provides direct support to our network of 100+ student clubs across the country in both local conservation efforts as well as engagement in our national programs and campaigns. He hails from the landlocked state of New Mexico where he always wanted to be a surfer and learned when he moved to the Pacific Northwest to get his BA in Environmental Policy from Huxley College of the Environment. Previous to his current role, Ryan was our Oregon Field Manager for four years where he worked with our chapters, state agencies and partner organizations on plastic pollution, water quality and beach access issues. He’s taken his love for surfing and philanthropy beyond Surfrider by co-founding Warm Current, a surf camp program promoting personal development for Tribal youth in WA. When not supporting the next generation of coastal defenders, he enjoys surfing, mountain biking and working on old cars.
