Imperial Beach HS Students score coverage of their BWTF program on local news

Students at Mar Vista High School just received amazing coverage of their water testing program on the local NBC TV news program, San Diego 7 News at 4.   The students test the water quality at the Imperial Beach Pier and another site closer to the estuary on a weekly basis as part of the San Diego Chapter's newly established Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) program.  The Chapter set up this program to provide more information to the local beach going community on how safe it is to get into the water at Imperial Beach.  These beaches are unfortunately too often contaminated with sewage and runoff flowing  from Mexico through the Tijuana River and into the Pacific Ocean.  Learn more about the chapter's efforts to secure Clean Border Water Now.

The Student's weekly water quality results are posted on Surfrider’s Blue Water Task Force website every Friday.  Big kudos to the students, their teach advisor Josh Kill and the San Diego Chapter's BWTF Coordinator Ally Senturk for doing such a good job running this program and helping to fill a critical information gap to protect public health at the beach.

Additional coverage of this incredible program was also included in the San Diego Tribune.  Check it out here!
