One great way to help reduce plastic pollution on Independence Day and all summer long is to avoid buying one of those cheap polystyrene coolers. They are not durable, typically don't carry much and are a nightmare to cleanup once they break into small pieces. If you are reading this, chances are that you already avoid foam coolers and you can still help by spreading the word to friends. Encourage them to 'step up' and get a durable cooler. My mom won then gifted a fairly standard cooler back in 1995 in a sweepstakes that I still use on a regular basis. Even if I paid full price, I'm sure it's cheaper than a bunch of those cheap foam coolers. Happy Independence Day, enjoy the beach!
