Eco Trayecto is an Ocean Friendly Restaurant and its connection to the sea is evident in both its location and its philosophy. Its main dishes are prepared exclusively with fresh fish caught by local fishermen from the Bay of Aguadilla. This ensures not only top-quality freshness, but also supports responsible fishing and the local economy.

The Bay of Aguadilla stretches from the Punta Borinquen Lighthouse in Aguadilla to the lighthouse in Rincón, encompassing the coastal center of the town of Aguada. This bay links three coastal communities that share a strong bond with the ocean. Each of these municipalities has its own local fishing village—both artisanal and commercial—which helps supply their communities with fresh, sustainable fish while preserving a vital cultural tradition.

One of Eco Trayecto's most innovative features is its take-out system. Instead of using disposable containers, they provide reusable ones that customers return later. Additionally, the restaurant does not use any single-use plastics in its operations, reinforcing its environmental commitment and helping to reduce waste that might otherwise end up in the ocean.

Another key aspect of Eco Trayecto philosophy is supporting local commerce. All ingredients and products used in the restaurant come from local producers and small businesses, strengthening the regional economy and minimizing the environmental impact of food transportation.
Surfrider's RIC Project (Coastal Interpretive Signage): This program identifies areas of high ecological value, beach access and environmental attractions. Signage is created mark and educate visitors about the importance of preserving and conserving these places.
For the past three years, the Surfrider Foundation Puerto Rico has been conducting environmental research in the Bay of Aguadilla, highlighting its unique ecological characteristics. The findings have been remarkable, showcasing the bay’s significant environmental value. This ongoing effort supports the initiative to establish Puerto Rico’s first fishing and conservation reserve—an important step toward sustainable marine resource protection.
