Surfrider Welcomes Jennifer Savage as Senior Plastic Pollution Manager

The Surfrider Foundation is proud to welcome Jennifer Savage to the team as the organization’s Senior Plastic Pollution Manager. Jennifer comes with extensive experience in ocean activism and conservation policy in California and beyond. She will be working with our amazing plastic pollution initiative team to eliminate single-use plastic consumer products in the U.S. and prevent plastic waste from going into our ocean.

Jennifer was previously Surfrider’s California Policy Manager, where she led an array of campaigns to protect the state’s ocean and coastal ecosystems. She is also a longtime member of Surfrider’s Humboldt Chapter. In addition to her work with Surfrider, Jennifer has served as the Pacific Program’s North Coast Coordinator for the Ocean Conservancy and as the Coastal Programs Manager for the Northcoast Environmental Center. Most recently, Jennifer was the Policy and Communications Manager for the California Ocean Protection Council.

“I’m thrilled to return to my beloved Surfrider,” said Jennifer. “From my first days as a volunteer to my professional policy work, stopping the senseless and widespread harm of single-use plastics has been a priority. I can’t think of a better way to make more progress than joining the brilliant Surfrider crew that has been successfully fighting to protect our ocean and coasts from plastic pollution.”

Jennifer and Surfrider’s plastic pollution team are working hard to achieve Surfrider’s goal to eliminate all single-use plastic consumer products in the U.S. by 2035 and prevent land-based plastic waste from entering the ocean.
